control, systems analysis, wildlife conservation, environmental education and environmental laws in particular. Indian Institute of Ecology and Environment (IIEE) wishes to present all its publications, research findings and the occasional monographs free of charge for the proper awareness of environmental education movement in India. The motivation for bringing awareness specially among the educational organisations has been based on the issues of environmental education discussed in the deliberations at Founes in 1971 and later at Stockholm in 1972 followed by the workshop on Environmental Education at Belgrade in 1975 and then an Inter Governmental Conference on the subject at Tbilisi in 1977 organised by United Nations Environment programme (UNEP) and UNESCO. The former resulted in what is known as the Belgrade Charter and from the latter issued specific recommendations on the role of Universities in the propagation of environmental education. Hence the role of IIEE through this MoU will be:

and related subjects.

e) to have programmes, seminars, workshops etc. jointly organised for protecting our
environment at any mutually decided locations.
f) to allow the alumnis of the collaborating organisation to pursue the study or
research programmes. That way the students and researchers of both Institutions will
be able to exchange ideas by visiting the campus at New Delhi as well as Bangalore.
2. Bangalore University, Bangalore will agree with this MoU and in return cooperate with
IIEE in the following ways :
a) to present the publication, information and knowledge for mutual exchange of ideas
in the areas of ecology and environment for its use by the students, faculty and others.

in the emerging fields.

Master's Programme of Bangalore University, Bangalore.
d) to allow and register the Post Graduates of IIEE for pursuing Doctoral programmes
(D.Litt/Ph.D.) with supervisors and guides from both bodies having the residency
requirements to be mutually decided. This will help the alumnis of IIEE to conduct and
continue research for the protection of environment in the neighbouring areas.
e) to implement the environment friendly projects with the help of local administration,
industrialists, students and the faculty on the guidelines suggested by IIEE. This will
help in having a thicker relationship with the State / Central Government as well as the
Industrialists for having a better industry-academics interaction for the vocationalisation
of environmental careers.
In testimony whereof, the parties to this MoU have hereinto set and subscribed their
hands for the continuance of this Memorandum of Understanding ( MoU).
